Prep IV stepped back in time on Tuesday to experience life as a Viking on our trip to Tatton Park.  Tatton had set up a temporary camp for the Vikings to rest whilst on their perilous journey from Yorvik.   The children had the opportunity to meet Harald Bloodaxe and his trusted team of men.   They also learnt about Viking history and their way of life through the workshop and hands-on activities created at the beautiful surroundings of Tatton.

We learnt about the first Viking that came to Tatters Ton on a voyage discovery. The Vikings came from Norway, Sweden and Denmark.  We looked at antlers, deer skin, braiding, how shields were used and we had a go at using a flail to hit the wheat  before grinding it into flour.

Did you know if you go to Tatton Park in the next couple of weeks, you will hear roaring and see the Red Stags battling each other? This only happens for a few weeks at this time of year ready for calves being born next spring. In March time you will find antlers that have fallen off the Stags around the park, they have come from stags that are over the age of two. Prep IV has found out how to tell how old the stags are by counting the heads on the antlers.

A fun day was had by all. A massive thank you to the staff at Tatton Park for a full filled day of learning.
