After yesterday’s exertions. It was no surprise that the majority of our children were asleep quite quickly last night, and the teachers were required to go around with wake up calls this morning. We hope it’s not a normal morning reaction, but when Miss Gregory shook Robyn to wake her, she immediately screamed – which made Miss Gregory scream! Max awoke, immediately saying that he had just been dreaming about Mr. Suter waking him up in the morning. Mr. Suter has asked Max tonight to dream about lottery numbers!
Amazingly, packing up suitcases and tidying rooms was fairly straightforward this morning. More amazingly, the only piece of lost property that we have been able to find is a pair of dark boys’ trousers – no one has claimed them, so please check if you’re missing a pair when delving into cases tonight!
A hearty breakfast again – when wasn’t it? – and then we headed off to the woods, for the Catwalks and the Ship’s Rigging. Splitting into two groups, the children variously tackled the two challenges ahead of them. The Ship’s Rigging was just that, a cargo net stretching up and narrowing as it reached up into the canopy of the trees. There were two Catwalks – a thick wooden pole suspended between two trees. One was about 20 feet up, and one 50 feet. Naturally, there was some trepidation as the children waited their turn, but with their classmates holding their safety ropes and egging them on, everyone took their turns to strive for the heights. It is surprising just how nimble and fearless some of this class are!
After our exertions, it was of course time for more food – pasta bowls and jacket potatoes – and then a final check to ensure we have all of our belongings. As we type this, we are winging our way along the A55 back to school, with a bunch of tired, well fed children who should be extremely proud of their efforts this week. Challenges have been faced, fears have been overcome and the children have been a credit to themselves and the school with their endeavours over the course of the last three days. Good luck with the washing, however!
