Back in November, as part of World Kindness Day, our Reception class visited other classes within the department to solicit acts of kindness from them. With Prep VI, they sought help learning to play catch and football. Now, we all know that the weather through the winter months and even the Spring term was not great, so with the change in the weather recently, Prep VI fulfilled their promise to Reception to help them with their kicking and catching skills.

On a beautiful, sunny afternoon on the back field, the two classes took themselves and a bag of balls and spent the afternoon catching and kicking. The younger children loved playing with the older ones, and the older children were extremely kind and patient with their younger peers.

It was wonderful to see the confidence of the Reception children grow as the session went on, with plenty of smiles, laughter and enthusiastic cheering whenever a good catch or kick was made. Prep VI proved to be fantastic role models, offering encouragement and helpful tips while making sure everyone felt included.

The afternoon was a lovely reminder that small acts of kindness can have a big impact. Not only did the Reception pupils enjoy developing their skills, but the older children also took great pride in helping and supporting them. A huge thank you to Prep VI for keeping their promise and making it such a fun and memorable experience for our youngest learners.

I really enjoyed this kindness day because all the reception class behaved really well and where really good at catch. One of them could catch a ball from facing backwards and could throw the ball over the foot ball net.! All of reception was really fast as we did a race around the field. at the end of the day. Overall I had an amazing time.

I really enjoyed playing with the receptions. My favourite part of the afternoon was that my sister came and chose me as her partner. I liked doing throwing and catching and kicking with the ball. I feel like I really bonded with my sister during the afternoon and I hope the other pairs felt that as much as I did.

I enjoyed world kindness day. It was so fun, I loved playing with the ball with the little ones, a few of my brothers friends have young brothers and sisters so it was nice to be able to be kind to them and play fun games. My sports partner was very sweet, she always waves to me now after school. So I made a new friend!!
