The Prep VI girls took to the netball court for another encounter with St Mark’s, a team that has proved to be something of a bogey team in previous meetings. Having been beaten quite comfortably the last time the two sides met, the girls knew they would need to raise their game if they were to challenge their opponents.

Although the result was once again disappointing, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. The girls showed clear signs of improvement, demonstrating better game management and a greater understanding of how to approach the match. There were periods of competitive netball in which they worked hard for one another, battled for possession and looked to put into practice the things they have been developing in training.

While St Mark’s ultimately came out on top, the girls can take encouragement from the progress they have made since their previous meeting. There is still plenty of room for improvement, particularly in terms of consistency and decision-making under pressure, but the signs are promising.

As always, the match was played in a good-natured spirit, with both teams enjoying the opportunity to compete. The girls represented Bridgewater brilliantly, showing enthusiasm, determination and a positive attitude throughout.

The result may not have gone their way, but progress is not always measured by the final score. With lessons learned and experience gained, the Prep VI girls will look to build on this performance and continue closing the gap when they next take to the court.
