This term has been an inspiring and activity-packed adventure for Prep III, filled with memorable learning experiences and moments of creativity and growth.

In September, we embarked on an incredible trip to Tatton Park for a Stone Age workshop. The hands-on experience allowed us to step back in time, exploring the lives of prehistoric people. We learned how tools were made and how people survived in ancient times. Back in class, we brought the Stone Age to life by making our own fossils, which helped us imagine what life might have been like thousands of years ago.

In Literacy, we immersed ourselves in the works of celebrated authors and poets, including Joseph Coelho and Roald Dahl. Inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine, we had great fun creating our own Marvellous Medicines, mixing strange and magical ingredients that sparked our imaginations and made us feel like scientists!

Mathematics has been a journey of discovery and improvement. We’ve honed our skills in place value, addition, and subtraction, breaking down large numbers to understand their value, which has helped with our calculations. Weekly mental maths challenges and times tables competitions have motivated us to beat our personal bests, and it’s been wonderful to see everyone’s progress and enthusiasm.

One of our favourite activities this term has been selecting books from the library and our classroom. Choosing books that spark our individual interests has made reading even more enjoyable, and we’ve been exploring a variety of genres, from thrilling adventures to captivating fantasy stories and fascinating non-fiction.

Science lessons have revolved around the fascinating world of rocks. We’ve learned how different types of rocks – igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic – are formed and explored their transformations over time. A related book in Literacy helped us appreciate the millions of years of history behind the rocks we see today.

Art has been another highlight, offering us opportunities to express our creativity. We’ve worked with clay to craft dragon models, a challenging but rewarding project that encouraged us to think carefully about shapes and textures. We also explored painting techniques, producing vibrant and imaginative pieces of artwork that we are proud to showcase.

This term has been a perfect example of how Prep III embodies the Bridgewater values of inclusivity, intellect, integrity, and inspiration. Through our studies, artistic projects, and collaboration, we have grown as a community of learners who are curious, creative, and supportive of one another.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled to dive into the world of the Romans next term, exploring their history, culture, and daily life. It promises to be another enriching chapter in our learning journey.

Warm regards,
Miss Gill
