Bridgewater School 11
St Stephens, Bolton 3

Following their recent success winning the MCFC 6 a side tournament, the Prep 3/4 team were full of confidence as they took on St Stephens School, Bolton this evening.

With the sun bleached red from the Saharan sands and the wind gusting in from Storm Ophelia, the scene was set for an enthusiastic Prep 3/4 to set about their task.

From the kick off it was apparent that Bridgewater were the stronger side with Alfie playing a significant role in the teams early dominance. The first half flew by and a half time score of 6-2 was a fair reflection of the game. Matteo opened the scoring for Bridgewater with two early goals, swiftly followed with a couple more from Alfie.

St Stephens were playing their part in proceedings and it needed some great goalkeeping at key moments from both George in the first half and Thomas in the second half in the Bridgewater net.

The superior quality and desire for the home side told the longer the game went on. Some of the passing between Jaydon, Alfie, David, Craig and Matteo was a pleasure to watch, whilst at the back Toby A, Tobias and Luca were in no mood to let the Bolton team past without a battle.

In the second half Harper fired in an impressive hat trick, whilst Matteo also completed his hat- trick.  Alfie scored a fantastic header from a Jaydon corner and David added to the tally of goals. The goal of the game came right at the end. A flowing team move with an exchange of 5 passes was finished joyously by Luca C to seal a comfortable 11-3 win for Bridgewater.

Overall, it was a great night to watch football with both teams going for the win enthusiastically.  The game was played in a great spirit with a mutual respect shown between teams that was a pleasure to see. Well done on an excellent performance all round Prep 3/4.
