The children from Prep III in the Prep Gardening Club enjoyed a ‘Sneak Peek’ visit to RHS Bridgewater today. Our select group of lucky gardeners got to experience the Learning Garden, before planting some containers that are going to go on display in the garden with edibles. We then planted our own nasturtium seeds to bring home with us.
Accompanied by RHS Bridgewater’s Education Officer Petra and RHS volunteer Dave, we went on a woodland walk before sitting to experience the mindfulness of the nature around us. We listened to the sounds around us, and then we made our own music ‘playing’ the trees, rocks and other natural features. Izabella shall henceforth be known as ‘Animal’ for the way she pounded out a beat using two sticks and a large boulder.
We explored the secret garden (for future visits, the password is not ‘Abracadabra’), played on the adventure playground, visited the Bridgewater Ent, who guards the woods, and completed a woodland treasure hunt. Before we left, we used our ‘treasure’ to help build a bug hotel in the Learning Garden.
