Midsummer Night’s Dream – or a Winter’s Tale?

‘All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts,’ William Shakespeare.

Well today at Bridgewater Prep our school hall became the stage and Prep children were the actors and actresses. We had our first taste of Shakespeare and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our introduction to ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ was great fun. Every class from PI to PVI participated in a very active workshop based on one or two scenes of the play and at the end of the afternoon we shared what we had done by performing a shortened version of the whole story.

This was a different way of celebrating World Book Day and we discovered some hidden talents within the Prep Department. Who knows, perhaps one day some of our pupils will be on a stage performing Shakespeare to audiences of thousands… and it all started here!

I enjoyed doing the midsummer night dream because some people don’t get parts and everyone did get a part so it was fair and I enjoyed my part
