This week, we were learning all about magnets and how they work. To bring the lesson to life, the children carried out a simple but fascinating experiment using a paper clip, a piece of string, blue tack, and a magnet.

The challenge was to see if they could make the paper clip “hover” in the air. By attaching the paper clip to the string and carefully positioning the magnet above it, they discovered that the magnetic force was strong enough to pull the paper clip upwards without touching it. There were lots of excited reactions as they adjusted the distance and watched the paper clip lift and float.

This hands-on activity helped the children see magnetic forces in action and encouraged them to experiment, problem-solve, and ask curious questions. It was a great way to turn a science lesson into a moment of wonder and discovery.
