The Autumn Term in Kindergarten has been a truly fantastic start to the year, filled with fun, learning, and a strong sense of community. The children quickly adapted to their new routines, demonstrating inclusivity through kind and cooperative play and the formation of lovely new friendships.
In Phonics, the focus has been on Phase 1 activities, which have encouraged the children to listen closely and differentiate between sounds, such as animal sounds, environmental noises, and musical instruments. We’ve also explored rhyme and alliteration, with everyone enthusiastically engaging in these sessions and making wonderful progress.
In Maths, the children have explored colours—primary, secondary, and beyond—while also developing their matching and sorting skills. Subitising has been introduced, and it’s been inspiring to see how eagerly the children participate in our Maths sessions and the follow-on activities. Their intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm shine through in every lesson.
Our enrichment activities have been a particular highlight this term. From making vegetable soup to icing biscuits, baking gingerbread men, and even creating reindeer food to sprinkle on gardens on Christmas Eve, the children have loved our food-based projects.
In PE, the children have worked hard, consistently demonstrating integrity by always trying their best and listening attentively during lessons. Mrs. Tunney has been especially proud of their progress and positive attitude. In Computing, the children have been developing their fine motor skills and mastering the use of their ‘clicky fingers.’ Music lessons have also been a joy, with our young singers displaying their natural talents and enthusiasm.
The term’s festivities were topped off with a spectacular performance in our Christmas show, Hey Ewe! in collaboration with the Reception Class. The children were baaa-rilliant! Additionally, we enjoyed an exciting theatre trip to Stick Man at The Lowry in Salford, a memorable experience that brought the magic of storytelling to life.
We are incredibly grateful to our wonderful parents and families for their ongoing support, which helps nurture the children’s growth and success. Thank you for being such an integral part of our Bridgewater community.
We look forward to welcoming you back in 2025 for more exciting adventures and learning experiences.
Warmest wishes,
Miss Armstrong, Mrs. Gerrard, and Miss Kelsall
