Premier Sports came to Bridgewater this evening, hosting their handball tournament. With four teams including ourselves, the round robin tournament saw each team play each other twice, with the top two teams facing off for the winners trophy. First up were St. Luke’s, and Bridgewater’s quick passing meant that, despite conceding goals, they were always going to scoring them at the right end and keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Mr. Suter initially tried to keep tab of the scorers, but quickly realised that was a futile idea as they came thick and fast and from all areas of the team. Our first game finished 6-3 in our favour. Next up Grosvenor B, and although they keep their own scoreboard ticking over, goals from all around the team saw a 10-6 victory. Grosvenor A found themselves on the end of the incessant Bridgewater attack in our third game as we ran out 13-5 winners.
The second round of games started and the Bridgewater juggernaut continued. St. Luke’s went down 13-5, and despite finding ourselves initially two goals down we recovered to win 6-2 against Grosvenor B. Grosvenor A struggled to make an impression too as they succumbed 10-3.
And so to the final, with 6-0 winning game streak, and an overall 56-21 scoreline in our favour. St. Luke’s tried their hand again, but by now the team were defending well and moving the ball quickly to attackers in space. Perhaps the moment of the game was a point blank penalty save by Sam, but the whole team played well and were never going to concede the dominance they had shown throughout the tournament. The final score was 12-1 to Bridgewater, an excellent end to a dominant overall team performance.
