As part of their Science topic on Forces, Prep V have been investigating the effects of air resistance. In groups, the class planned and undertook an experiment to see if the size of a parachute affects how long it takes to fall. There was plenty of excitement in the classroom as parachutes were designed and produced (with apologies to our cleaning staff for the holes in their bins bags!). Then it was off to the highest point we could find (Senior exams permitting!) to test our theories. We’re not sure that our parachutes were effective enough to save our little plastic men who were using them, but we did gather enough information to to see whether our theories were correct.
