Our Prep VI boys’ football team faced Ellenbrook in slightly soggy conditions after school this evening. With the opposition moving the ball fluidly and defending purposefully, it took a brave save from the onrushing William to keep the scores level. Both sides had chances – William handled the ball confidently, while the Ellenbrook keeper also made a string of fine saves. It was only an audacious lob from Victor that separated the two sides at the half time break.
Bridgewater dominance started to show in the second half: ‘No Nonsense’ Noah cleared anything in his path; Ibrahim and Asa smothered Ellenbrook attacks in our own area; Carter and Elijah linked well in the midfield. But it was Victor’s running from deep that opened the Ellenbrook defence and by the full time whistle an own goal, a brace from Carter and the rest from Victor ensured an ultimately comfortable 7-0 victory.
Many of these boys are friends with the opposition players, playing for teams together outside of school, so the game was played in a friendly, respectful yet competitive manner – exactly what you would hope for from a school team. Well done boys!

I had enjoyed the game and the Ellenbrook players were good and it was a difficult game but then in the second half we all tried our best with Victor weaving around the defenders leaving them in knots. But overall we managed to smash Ellenbrook 7-0 with a nice win.
