Prep IV travelled to Windermere on Monday and visited the Beatrix Potter Museum where the stories were brought to life. Did you know she fell in love with the Lake District and that because farmers were not surviving Beatrix Potter bought farms and rented them out to save them? She owned 15 farms and 4,000 acres which then was given to the National Trust to conserve the Lake District countryside.
We explored inside the museum, where we saw all her fantastic story characters and scenes from her books. Outside, we visited Mr McGregor’s kitchen garden, which is inspired by the flowers, fruit and vegetables that Beatrix Potter drew.
Off to Brockholes for lunch, a play on the playground and fun, exhausting tree top nets. Throwing giant balls, bouncing around, racing across the nets, down slides and climbing to the top again was a great way to end the afternoon. Everyone had a great time, even Mrs. Booth (who was persuaded to go on), Mrs. Sweeney and Miss Gregory. Off we came with wobbly legs, back to the mini buses where tiredness overtook some children on the way back to school.
