Prep IV and V girls had a fantastic time on the Netball Trip to Condover Hall. The girls were all very excited as we set off, was it the trip or the promise of McDonalds on the way? After filling their tummies at Chester services, we set off on the rest of our journey. We arrived at Condover Hall to discover that our rooms were ready early. Bonus! The girls settled in and chose their bunks before we headed out to explore. It wasn’t long before the whole group were harnessed up and scrabbling up the climbing walls, abseiling down the tower and braving the trapeze jump!

After working up an appetite, we found the restaurant and all tucked into a delicious evening meal. Next up was a trip to the gift shop, the girls had money that was burning holes in their purses and they wasted no time when it came to buying keyrings, torches, slushes and, of course, slime! All spent up, we continued to explore our gorgeous surroundings and had some time to enjoy the fresh air and have some fun; piggy backs, rolling down the hill and just having a great time! After a busy and exciting day of travel and activities, it was time for bed. The girls got into their pyjamas and were fast asleep by 11pm … not too bad for the first night of a residential!

Saturday was jam packed! We started with a delicious and filling breakfast to give everyone enough energy for a morning of adventures. The girls completed the high rope assault course, with every single member of the team braving the dizzy heights. Next up was another attempt at the climbing wall, abseiling and trapeze jump. Lunchtime soon came, with the girls all being encouraged to choose foods that would give them the energy for an afternoon of netball. So naturally, most opted for chips! A quick change into PE kits and the girls took to the courts! The netball was of a high standard and many of the opposing teams were from clubs, meaning it was pretty competitive. Our two teams showed fantastic resilience and played some great netball. We also had the chance to watch some of the more experienced teams and pick up some skills from them. Mrs Tunney and Miss Armstrong were both very proud of and impressed by every single player.

After showering and eating dinner, it was time to change into our disco outfits and head to the Sports Hall for the ….. Silent Disco! We donned our headphones and danced the night away. Everyone had a fantastic time and we led everyone in a conga! The night wasn’t over yet though… The only way to cool down after a very hot Silent Disco is a water fight. I think it’s safe to say that this was the highlight of the whole trip for many. Everyone was absolutely drenched, they had the time of their lives. It was fantastic to watch! Everyone was out like a light, worn out from a busy and exciting day!

Breakfast on Sunday was bright and early as our netball matches started at 8.30! We sleepily loaded our bags onto the minibus and headed into the restaurant, only to have to leave moments later because of the fire alarm. Luckily, it was a false alarm and we were soon back inside and able to finish our food. Once again, the netball was a high standard but our two teams played well and enjoyed their time on the court. They even got to play a match together which we knew would be lots of fun. To make it even more so, the bibs were mixed up in the bag and the girls did a lucky dip! After one last climb up the climbing wall, it was time to collect our packed lunches and set off back to school. Miss Armstrong and Mrs Tunney were the only two awake for the whole journey back. The sign of a successful weekend away.

Well done to all of the girls. They made themselves, the staff and the school very proud. The behaviour was fantastic, their attitude during the netball matches was exemplary and they fully embraced all of the challenges, activities and opportunities throughout the weekend!

A big thank you to Mrs Tunney and Miss Armstrong for taking us on this amazing trip I loved every second of it! My favourite parts was the netball the high ropes and the Silent Disco. I’m looking forward to next year! 🙂
