A blue harvest moon was setting over the East side of Manchester as Mr Rooney drove the Prep 3 team mini bus in to the Etihad complex. Teams such as Manchester Grammar, Stockport Grammar and the Grange were also arriving in the car park so Mr Rooney and Mr Nairn prepared some inspiring team talks for the tough morning ahead.

In our first group game we beat Altrincham Prep 3-0 with a hat trick from Alfie.

The deciding game in the group was v Bolton School. Alfie scored and put Bridgewater in touching distance of the elimination rounds. Unfortunately a mistake in defence allowed Bolton to grab a late equaliser. Thankfully the draw was enough to put us through as group winners.

We then played Pownall School in the semi final.  Pownall were a tough side who made our team fight hard for a 2-0 victory courtesy of 2 goals from Alfie.

And so to the final v Grange.  Another very tough encounter when all the team tackled hard to ensure another great defensive display conceding only our 2nd goal of the tournament . This skill and determination allowed Alfie to score his 7th, 8th and 9 th goals of the tournament for a 3-1 win.

A wonderful tournament victory so soon after our Prep 1 and Reception victory at the Etihad last week. Over to our under 11 side to ensure a hat trick of tournament victories next week….no pressure!
