U11s exit AJIS cup

The U11s squad vs. Birkenhead

This year’s Association of Junior Independent Schools (AJIS) saw Bridgewater pitted against a strong Birkenhead School side – poised and settled, the Birkenhead side were also physically taller and stronger than us.

The eventual 5-0 scoreline did not reflect the efforts of our team who battled well but were ultimately unable to match a well organised Birkenhead side.  A 30-yard thunderbolt from one of their players and a deflected header didn’t help matters.

To their credit, Bridgewater battled to the end but it wasn’t to be our day.  Despite the scoreline, our players were a credit to themselves and, what’s more, deserve some praise for their (and their parents’) patience on an horrendous two hour return journey.
